Commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution
Informal Theme #8
Blog #8
The Philippines was praised worldwide in 1986, when the so-called bloodless revolution erupted, called EDSA People Power’s Revolution. February 25, 1986 marked a significant national event that has been engraved in the hearts and minds of every Filipino. This part of Philippine history gives us a strong sense of pride especially that other nations had attempted to emulate what we have shown the world of the true power of democracy. The true empowerment of democracy was exhibited in EDSA by its successful efforts to oust a tyrant by a demonstration without tolerance for violence and bloodshed. Prayers and rosaries strengthened by faith were the only weapons that the Filipinos used to recover their freedom from President Ferdinand Marcos's iron hands.
The Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) stretches 54 kilometers, where the peaceful demonstration was held on that fateful day. It was a day that gathered all Filipinos in unity with courage and faith to prevail democracy in the country. It was the power of the people, who assembled in EDSA that restored the democratic Philippines, ending the oppressive Marcos regime. Hence, it came to be known as the EDSA People Power’s Revolution. The revolution was a result of the long oppressed freedom and the life threatening abuses executed by the Marcos government to cite several events like human rights violation since the tyrannical Martial Law Proclamation in 1972.

“1 Corinthians 13”: A Christian Valentine Poem
Informal Theme #7
Blog #7
Valentine's Day is a day of love,
For showing that we care,
And if we read the Bible,
God describes love there:
For showing that we care,
And if we read the Bible,
God describes love there:
If we speak like celestial angels
From heaven up above,
All our words mean nothing
If we don’t have Christian love.
From heaven up above,
All our words mean nothing
If we don’t have Christian love.
Love is patient, love is kind;
It doesn’t brag or boast;
Love conquers pride and envy;
It is never self-engrossed.
It doesn’t brag or boast;
Love conquers pride and envy;
It is never self-engrossed.
Love is not rude or angry;
Forgiveness counters wrong;
Love stays away from evil;
It sings a truthful song.
Forgiveness counters wrong;
Love stays away from evil;
It sings a truthful song.
Love is full of trust and hope;
It always perseveres;
Love never fails; It’s faithful;
To the Bible it adheres.
It always perseveres;
Love never fails; It’s faithful;
To the Bible it adheres.
And if you give this kind of love
To your special Valentine,
You’ll be loving right in harmony
With God’s own sweet design.

Friendly Letter Addressed to Ma’am Maye

Dear Ma’am Maye,
I know it’s weird to receive a letter from one of your students but I think it is better to write this in paper than to tell you personally. Allow me to describe you from my own point of view. As an individual, I think you have the most pleasing personality. I have never met someone as responsible as you. I admire you for your diligence and overwhelming performance in any event.
As one of the teachers of our Alma Mater, you must know that you’ve been respected here as an educator. But for me, you not only serve as our instructor but also as a friend. According to dictionary.com, a friend is defined as “a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard.” Indeed, I feel that way towards you. How lucky I am to have known someone who was so hard to say goodbye to.
If ever we were somehow in the same generation, I wouldn't think twice to approach you and ask you to be my friend. But even so, when it comes to friendship, age doesn't matter so I wouldn’t be reluctant to say that I am considering you as an acquaintance. “A circle is round. It has no end. That’s how long I want to be your friend.”
Sincerely yours,
Iris
Sincerely yours,
Iris

An Indescribable Pantomime
Informal Theme #4
Blog #4
With a broad background in theatre, who wouldn’t expect us to perform tons of fun speech activities? Whoa, Ma’am Maye is this influential! And for once in our lives, we have gone through a pantomime. Ma’am even questioned us on the spelling, “phantomime.” Working on this project has been hard work for us but it has been a great experience for all.
Our pantomime is about a mistress who has taken a billionaire for granted. The billionaire already has a wife but one day, he just left her. On that particular day, he went to a bar to relieve himself and made love with the mistress who already has a boyfriend. Consequently, the mistress became pregnant with her boyfriend but instead, she framed up the billionaire as the father of the baby she is carrying. Unfortunately, the billionaire died.

The Day Love Came to Town
Informal Theme #3
Blog #3
As individuals, love is something we ponder without hesitation. Each and every one who have lived, are living, and will be living in this realm of God considered, are considering, and will be considering love’s inevitability. It is the most powerful thing in the world. And with something that dominant in the human race, no wonder that it has affected me as well. It was when love came to a teen like me.
Best known for his lead roles in dramas, I first fell in love with him at “My Lovely Sam Soon.” Lately, I love his newest series “Secret Garden” and I’m trying to find time to watch it. He never fails to catch my attention with his looks and a voice that makes me fall in love all over again. Not to mention his overwhelming personality that makes him an overall good character. Out of all things in this world, I wouldn’t want anything except for him.

Life Is Short
Informal Theme #2
Blog #2
“Life is short.” Three simple words but difficult to explain. I never really understood the meaning of the sentence until Mrs. Mildred Atendido opened my mind to her thoughts. During the eight months I spent with her, this quote is the one that retained most in my brain. But how short is short?
The average life span of Filipinos is 71.38 years (as of 2010). Generally, we exist on Earth for about two billion seconds. Is that amount of time enough to find our happiness? Definitely not. With the tasks we are to accomplish, billions of seconds cannot sustain such accomplishment.
Once again, Ma’am Maye inspired me to do my best with my studies. With the little amount of time God had given us, we should make the fullest of our capabilities. Management of time is also necessary to fulfill our desires. We all know that one day, we wouldn’t exist here anymore and inevitable death will come to get our souls. Every beginning has an ending so we must be prepared to expect that moment in time.

The Collage of my Personality
Informal Theme #1
Blog #1
The hummingbird may be small, but it is so full of joy that when it comes to you, joy will take over. It is a symbol of good health. It is the only bird that can fly backwards. This is a reminder that the past can’t be changed but the past can teach lessons.
Being conscious of my health came naturally to me. No one forced me to live a healthy lifestyle, a life free from diseases. I guess I got it from my grandpa on my father’s side. I think that being aware of good health is a significant aspect of anyone’s personality since eating and maintaining fitness is a habit of everyone.
This characteristic of mine gave rise to some hobbies which contribute to my personal health. I enjoy swimming and golf the most when it comes to exercising. I mainly get information on maintaining a healthy body through reading books and surfing the internet. In addition to that, I have a habit of drinking water the minute I wake up and allot 30 more minutes before I chew on breakfast.
I absolutely dislike junk foods. I do eat some occasionally but I prefer healthy ones cooked in a delicious way. I avoid oily foods such as bacon or food submerged in too much cooking oil like fries. I also do not drink soft drinks.
I admire people who live in a healthy way and continue to inspire others to do the same. Jack LaLanne, the so-called “godfather of fitness,” is now 96 years old and still living strong. Oprah Winfrey always makes sure she eats delicious but healthy food everyday with the help of her personal chef, Art Smith. Seohyun of Girls’ Generation, a Korean girl group, wants the healthiest stuff for herself and also for her fellow members even though she is the youngest. She makes sure that she sleeps before 12 midnight to take care of her skin and sticks to waking up at 7 in the morning to read books. Lindy Tsang, a YouTube star, is famous for her videos about natural remedies for the skin and hair. She prefers tea over coffee. In fact, she doesn’t drink coffee at all, which we know, has caffeine, an unhealthy substance.
Due to health being the topic I’m most interested about, I dream on becoming a doctor or a nutritionist. I also want to establish hospitals with cheap price for everyone to receive all the needs they could get. I also desire owning a pharmacy or a training centre.
We live not twice, thrice, but only once. Life is threatened with harmful diseases that keep us from getting close to our goals in life. A healthy body is a must so we can fulfil our tasks with vigour. That is why we should all value our health. Everyone should live life to the fullest.
